
Town Council Grants
Alton Town Council awards grants to organisations each year. The sum involved is set by the Council during its usual budget process. The grants are to assist local organisations and clubs with projects or costs.
Grants are divided into two categories, termed Community Grants and Event & Project Grants.
Alton Town Council Community Grants
These are awarded annually at the meeting of the Full Council in January/ February each year for the forthcoming financial year. Applications MUST be submitted between 1st November and 31st December each year. No applications will be accepted outside of these dates.
These grants are awarded to organisations which are judged to contribute to the whole community and which are not usually capable of covering their full running costs; these grants may be used as part of these. Grants may be awarded in this category up to £10,000. The total pot for 2026-27 is £30,000.
Alton Town Council Event And Project Grants
PLEASE NOTE: The budget for April 2026 to March 2027 has now been fully spent or committed.
These are awarded throughout the year and are to assist organisations or clubs with special projects or one off costs which cannot be met by their normal income. Grants may be awarded in this category up to £1,000 ( although most are £500 and under).
Neighbourhood Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL)
Applications are invited from local groups and organisations who wish to submit applications for infrastructure related projects which benefit the local community.
All applicants should read the CIL Policy to ensure their application meets the criteria as set out within.
CIL 2026 FUNDING WINDOW
The funding windows will open on:
1st April and closes at midnight on the last day of April
1st November and closes at midnight on the last day of November
No late submissions will be accepted.
Alton Town Council Climate Change Small Grant
Alton Town Council has a one-off Climate Change Fund designed to assist local organisations and groups to achieve modest aspects of a decarbonisation programme.
A sum of £10,000 in total is available each year, beginning on April 5th, and applications for up to £1,000 may be submitted throughout the year.
