Welcome to Alton Town Council

The parish of Alton comprises the town of Alton and the separate village of Holybourne in Hampshire. The parish is warm, welcoming and vibrant with community spirit at its heart. Situated at the source of the River Wey and enjoying a rural backdrop at the gateway to the South Downs National Park, the area is known by many as “Jane Austen Country” with close ties to the charming neighbouring parish of Chawton, home to Jane Austen’s House and Chawton House.
