On Tuesday 18th February, a cold but sunny day, half term family fun was had in the Public Gardens for Alton Town Council’s Pancake Race. Sponsored by Slush Truck, the event drew enthusiastic participants and spectators of all ages.
The children waited patiently until it was their turn to race and then ran with enthusiasm, agility and great determination. Each category had very close qualifying heats, with the first 2 children going through to the final, where the winners emerged triumphant in this friendly and fun competition.
The overall winners from each category were:

Cllr Annette Eyre, Town Mayor of Alton expressed gratitude for the turnout and the display of sportsmanship witnessed throughout the event. “The Pancake Race embodies the essence of our community, bringing together individuals of all ages. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all participants and winners for their remarkable efforts and a big thank you to everyone involved in putting the event together and helping on the day.”
The owner of Slush Truck, Zach Hayter said: ‘We’re delighted to partner with Alton council to bring activities to the local community. We hope with our social media following of over 64 thousand followers we can help to spread how amazing our town is.’
Due to the generous sponsorship of Slush Truck, the entry fees have been donated to the Mayor’s Charity, Dementia Friendly, Alton.
