VETERANS REMEMBRANCE PARADES 2023
Forces veterans of all ranks are invited to parade at both the Holybourne and Alton annual Remembrance Day Services on Saturday 11th November and Sunday 12th November respectively. This invitation is extended to anyone who has served in any of His Majesty’s Armed Forces.
Those wishing to Parade can gather at Andrews Endowed Primary School in Holybourne on Saturday 11th November at 10:15am, to set off at 10:45am. For the Alton Parade please meet in the Market Square on Sunday 12th November at 10:00am to form up and march off at 10:30am. Veterans will follow current serving personnel to the Cairn, where the Service will be held. There will be no need to “book” your place – simply come to either or both the Parades. This includes anyone and everyone including those using a wheelchair or mobility aid – all are very welcome.
Former Town Councillor and Town Mayor of Alton, Derek Gardner says “this initiative follows discussions with fellow veterans who suggested that the inclusion of former service personnel in the Holybourne and Alton Remembrance Parades should be re-commenced having ceased some years ago.”
For both parades the Town Council is grateful to Warrant Officer Tom Bagley from the 613 Squadron Air Cadets who is the Parade Marshall.
More information about both parades can be obtained from Alton Town Council on 01420 83986 or email .
