Community Tool Lending Program

Alton Town Council has successfully secured a grant from the Hampshire County Council Waste Prevention team and is thrilled to announce a new initiative: a selection of garden and DIY tools available for community groups and schools to borrow.

In line with its commitment to supporting the community, preventing waste, and promoting sustainable living, Alton Town Council aims to make it easier for groups to access tools they need without the necessity of purchase. This initiative helps to reduce unnecessary consumption and waste, ensuring tools are used rather than sitting idle or going to landfill.

Most items in the tool lending program are free to borrow, although a deposit may be required for more expensive tools, refundable upon their return.

Currently, the program is open only to community groups and schools. However, Alton Town Council hopes to extend this service to individuals as the project develops.
