In January 2023, Alton Town Council resolved to conduct technical assessments and feasibility studies of the pond, and of the weir at the outlet from the pond.
What has been learnt from topographic and hydrological surveys and silt sampling has already been published.
Water Environment Limited were commissioned to carry out a feasibility study on the removal of the weir. Their report is now being considered by Alton Town Council. It describes all the options for the site including dredging and the options that would be available if the weir were to be removed.
