A parish poll took place on 21 January. It was called by local residents and run by East Hampshire District Council (EHDC). Alton Town Council is legally obliged to pay EHDC’s expenses. The total cost was £10,816.97. This was made up of:

- Mileage: £173.07
- Polling station bookings: £1,295.00
- Ballot printing: £2,060.04
- Delivery of polling booths: £288.00
- Preparation of election, notices, count, stations: £3,256.49
- Legal advice: £1,287.00
