Bird Flu Concern Raised

BIRD FLU CONCERN RAISED BUT NOT CONFIRMED

Following the death of a male swan at King’s Pond on Sunday, 22 February, DEFRA is carrying out tests.

Bird flu has not been confirmed.

While we wait for test results, please:
• Keep to footpaths, with dogs on leads
• Do not feed the birds
• Do not pick up or touch birds
• Do not touch wild bird feathers or surfaces contaminated with droppings
• If you keep poultry/birds, wash your hands, clean and disinfect footwear before tending your birds
• If you find dead wild birds, please report them to Alton Town Council (, 01420 83986)
