A Right Royal Knees up!
The Big Lunch is the UK’s annual celebration for neighbours and communities, a time when
people come together to share friendship, food and fun. This year Alton Town Council are
inviting the local community to join in the Coronation celebrations with a Big Lunch in the
Public Gardens on Sunday 7th May from 12.00pm – 3.00pm in the Public Gardens, Alton.
At 12.00pm the Town Crier, Dave Parsons, will start proceedings with a Coronation
Proclamation.
During the day, with thanks to Hampshire County Councillor Andrew Joy for his community
grant, Alton Concert Band will be entertaining everyone celebrating this historical event from
1.00pm – 3.00pm.
You will also be able to pick up a free King Charles III’s Coronation activity pack from the
Alton Town Council stall between 12.00pm and 2.00pm. The activity pack will include a
‘Royal Picture Trail’ around the park, solve the password to win a small prize*, a coronation
crown for you to colour in, a royal wordsearch and test your family’s knowledge with the
coronation quiz.
Let’s all come together in Alton’s Public Gardens and get to know one another a little better
at the community celebration for the Coronation.
