What is a Blue Plaque?
A blue plaque is a permanent sign installed in a public place in the United Kingdom, and certain other countries and territories, to commemorate a link between that location and a famous person, event, or former building on the site, serving as a historical marker.
The Town Council has over a number of years erected Blue Plaques on buildings of exceptional interest, by virtue of their history and/or notable residents who have lived there. This is an on-going project and it is hoped that more plaques can be added where property owners are agreeable and funds allow.
