Alton Town Council is excited to announce that the popular Pancake Race returns to the Public Gardens on Tuesday 18th February 2025 during the February half-term. Although this year’s race doesn’t fall on Shrove Tuesday the event has always been held on the Tuesday of half-term so that more children and families can join in the fun.
Registration will open at 10:00am and close at 10:30am, with the first race starting promptly after. We will start with the preschool category.
Races will take place along the usual route of Lime Tree Avenue, with a variety of races including:
• Individual races for children by age group
• Team relay races in which groups of friends, local businesses, charities and community groups are invited to join in the fun of the day.
Fancy dress is very much encouraged, adding to the frivolity of this popular well attended event with a prize up for grabs for the best dressed participant.
Pancake Race categories are as follows:
Nutella – Preschool
Lemon & Sugar – (Years R – 2 Infants)
Milk – (Years 3 – 6 Juniors)
Flour – (Year 7 – 11 Secondary)
Eggs – Relay race for teams of up to 8 people
Entrance is £1.00 per child or £5.00 per team
All entry fees will be donated to the Mayors Charity.
