Train Disruption: Christmas And New Year

Train passengers disruption over Christmas and New Year as Network Rail begins engineering works on the South West Main Line.

What’s happening?
Between Monday 23 December – Sunday 5 January 2025, Network Rail will carry out major upgrade work in Brookwood, near Woking.

On those dates, buses will replace trains between Woking and Aldershot, Basingstoke and Farnborough. On Sunday 5 January, bus services will extend to Weybridge, Andover and Winchester – see below for more information.

Train services between London Waterloo and Weymouth will be diverted via Guildford, taking around 45 minutes longer, and there will be no direct service between London Waterloo and Exeter St Davids.

Services between London Waterloo and Alton, and between London Waterloo and Portsmouth Harbour via Basingstoke, will also be altered.

There will be no service on our network on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
