Cactus Brass

We are a brass quintet, based in Rushmoor and the surrounding area. We play music for bandstands, weddings, regimental dinners, parties, garden fetes, Christmas and ceremonies of any kind. The story behind the name Cactus Brass is that being a small band we rehearse in our own homes, and as brass players need somewhere to empty our water! The obvious place to empty our water, initially was into a decidedly weary cactus. The cactus is thriving but the debate as to whether it is because of the water or our playing is ongoing! We are a fun group who enjoy what we do, and hope others enjoy our wide variety of music too.

 

 

The Alton Stringalongs

The Alton Stringalongs are a Ukelele band, formed to play music for our pleasure and to share our eclectic choices of music from the 1920’s through to our popular range of songs from the 60’s to 80’s and current popular songs.

We play at local events and gigs such as The Green Man, Free Folk Friday, Zoom sessions, shows in Hook, Alton Social Bowling Club etc. We are looking forward to playing in the park in Alton once again.

 

South Berks Concert Band

South Berks Concert Band is a community woodwind, brass and percussion music group which has performed in and around the area for 45 years.

They currently have over forty members from the local area. With a mix of ages, experience and abilities, but all pride themselves on their commitment to improving the band and helping build each other’s musicianship in order to bring great quality live music to our audiences.

Whatever your tastes in music, whether that be film scores, selections from musicals, jazz pieces, traditional marches, contemporary wind band music, classical works, original compositions or arrangements of your favourite pop music, it is all there waiting for you to hear and enjoy at our concerts.

Blue Sky Big Band
24th July - 2:00pm to 4:00pm

Blue Sky Big Band plays predominantly Jazz and Swing style music, typical of the Big Band era of the 1940s. We cover music from many composers and artists including Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, Woody Herman and Louis Prima to mention but a few. Our repertoire also includes a number of modern pieces but everything we play is suitable for dancing and easy listening.

The Band has a traditional Big Band format with Saxophones (Alto, Tenor and Baritone), Trumpets, Trombones and a Rhythm section which comprises Drums, Double Bass/Electric Bass, Keyboard/Vibraphone and Guitar. 

Alder Valley Brass
21st August - 2:00pm to 4:00pm

Alder Valley Brass is one of the South East's finest brass bands, and provides music to enhance any occasion.

For more than 50 years Alder Valley Brass has performed at venues ranging from London's Royal Albert Hall, Windsor Castle, Epsom race course and Hampton Court Palace, to many of the UK's famous parks & bandstands.

Much of the band's concert work is in support of local charities and there have been proud moments working with Help for Heroes and the Royal British Legion, charities selected by the Mayor of Rushmoor at concerts, as well as The SSAFA and Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice.
