'In Harmony With Nature' 2021 Calendar

Gilbert White logo

Having been inspired by all of your beautiful photos on social media capturing delightful images of wildlife and landscapes during lockdown and with the 18th of July 2020 being the 300th Anniversary of the birth of Gilbert White, Alton Town Council is reaching out to the community in a search for photographs depicting Alton’s nature at its finest for a 2021 calendar.

In keeping with the partnership developed with Gilbert White’s House to increase awareness of Gilbert and his work as the father of ecology, we want to promote his legacy, highlighting the ethos of the need to live in harmony with nature.

So, whether you are walking amongst the wildflowers at Windmill Hill, enjoying the calm of the meandering river Wey at Flood Meadows or watching the myriad wildlife at King’s Pond we are inviting you to submit your own inspirational images to illustrate our calendar, promoting the beauty that surrounds us in our wonderful town.

The chosen images will be added to the calendar which will be sold in aid of the Town Mayor’s charities; Bushy Leaze children’s and families centre, and The King’s Arms Youth Project (KA) charity that works to support the emotional, physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing of young people.

We would also like to print, frame and exhibit the chosen images later in the autumn for everyone to enjoy.

As a thank you the photographers whose work is used in the calendar will receive a copy of their photograph framed along with a copy of the calendar.
