Alton Town Council awards grants to organisations each year. The sum involved is set by the Council during its usual budget process. The grants are to assist local organisations and clubs with projects or costs.

There are a number of other organisations offering financial assistance to local community groups and projects.
All District Councillors have a small budget that they can spend on projects or initiatives within their local area. The Councillor Community Grants Scheme now gives local District Councillors discretion to award grants of between £100 and £1000, up to total of £4500, to support local projects or initiatives within their wards. Our County Councillor also receives an annual budget, to be allocated to local projects, initiatives or organisations in their Division. Legitimate groups and organisations, but not individuals, will be able to apply to their local Member for a grant of between £100 and £8,000 County Councillor Grant Application
