Welcome to Alton Town Councils 8th Walking Festival. This year we are delighted to announce the inclusion of a mini Cycling Festival. The programme of walks and cycling on offer will entice even more people to ‘get out there’ and take in some of the best views available in Hampshire.
The Festival offers walkers a range of guided walks from 2 to 23 miles and cyclists 5 to 50 miles.
NEW FOR 2020
We have a full program this year which will see the return of our popular Six Hills Of Alton, Tree Walks, Town and Civil War Walks. There are walks everyday for you to choose from.
This year we have introduced a walk planning with OS Maps, garden tour of Chawton House, exploring our local churches, Way Walk, a pre school walk and story time and so much more.
This year's Cycling Festival will take place on Friday 15th May to Sunday 17th May. There will be 3 guided bike rides on each day, ranging from a gentle paced ride to off road cycling over the 3 days.
Over the weekend there will be a repair cafe for you to bring your bike along to and also be the opportunity for you to use your pedal power to make your very own smoothie!
More details to follow soon.
The midday mile is an addition to this year’s Festival. The purpose is to encourage workers to leave their place of work and go for a walk, but anyone is welcome to join! Most of us spend over six hours sat down every day and it’s just not healthy for us, so make a change and join us for a midday mile at the beginning of the Festival from Friday 1st May to Thursday 7th May (excluding weekends). There is no need to
book the midday mile, just turn up.
The full programme and booking will
be available by the beginning of March 2020.
