Alton Tree Walk – Anstey Park and Holybourne NEW for 2019

A steady walk led by Alton’s tree warden stopping at points of interest.

The Northern Loop circular walk NEW route for 2019

Discover the villages and countryside on the north side of Alton on this revised northern loop of Alton.

Binsted and the Arboretum NEW for 2019

An interesting figure of eight circuit, starting at Gravel Hill car park, visiting the Arboretum and descending to Bentley railway station. The route continues through fields to Isington and then climbs to West Court, returning via Holy Cross Church and Binsted village, then heading across the plateau

and down through Redcap Copse. The final stretch passes Bentley Hall and climbs back through the forest.

 

Start time and meeting point:

10:00 am Gravel Hill car park

Gravel Hill car park is off Gravel Hill Road. Take A31 to the east end of the Bentley Bypass. Turn right where the brown sign for the Forestry Commission Research Station is seen and follow the lane over the river and across fields, then uphill through the forest and over the railway.

After a sharp Right Hand bend the hill levels out. Ignore a track on the Left and take the gravel track on the Right.
