Walk 112 - Walkers Are Welcome Whitchurch to Alton

Both Alton and Whitchurch are Walkers are Welcome towns and this walk links the two by a delightful and interesting route.

Start in Whitchurch: Bus drop off point (end of Bere Hill, RG28 7EN, Whitchurch (proximate to Whitchurch Police Station (Dances Lane RG28 7EG)).

Short Description: Start at Bere Hill, RG28 7EN, Whitchurch. Head NE to N of Overton, S to Quidhampton, to Ashe, E to Deane, SE on Wayfairers Walk, E to N of Bulls Bushes Copse. S across A30 and M3 to Nuttley, Bradley, Gaston Woods, E to Bentworth, SE to Theddon Grange, Beech, Akender Woods, Alton

Details:

Whole distance of 25 miles in 4 legs:

First Leg: Start from bus drop off point (end of Bere Hill, RG28 7EN, Whitchurch (proximate to Whitchurch Police Station (Dances Lane RG28 7EG)). Head cross country NE to N of Overton, S toward Quidhampton (passing Overton Mill). E beside railway line. S toward Polhampton Farm Road. Continue S then SE to Ashe (2 hours/ 6 miles) for first stop (10 minutes).

Second Leg: from Ashe, E to Deane, S toward Steventon (across A3400). SE on Wayfairers Walk, E to N of Bulls Bushes Copse. S across A30 and M3. Pass to the E of Dummer to Nutley (further 8 miles (3 hours)) for lunch stop (20 minutes). (total of 14 miles at this stage).

Third Leg: S/SE to Bradley, Gaston Woods, E to Bentworth (further 6 miles (2 hours)) for 10 minute break (total of 20 miles at this point).

Fourth Leg: 5 miles to go - SE to Theddon Grange, Beech, Akender Woods, Alton (Market Square)

Free transport is available from Alton to Whitchurch. Places are limited.

Start time and meeting point:

Meeting at 07:15am Alton Railway Station ready for the bus to depart from Alton Railway Station at 07:30am with the aim of arriving in Whitchurch no later than 8:30am and start the walk at 08:45am

Coach travel has been arranged from Alton to Whitchurch. Places are limited.

Please arrive 15 minutes before the start of the walk.

Please remember to wear suitable footwear, clothing and bring water and a packed lunch with you.

A majority of the walks are in the countryside/woodland so rest stops for toilets may not be possible.

Walk 113 Binsted and Isington Tree Walk

THEMED WALK - TREE WALK: This walk is approximately 3.5 miles in length, parts of it over rough ground, starting and ending at the Binsted Recreation Ground car park in The Street. You will stop and admire magnificent examples of ten species of tree, and have the opportunity to identify many more.
